New Avenues for Youth is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to work in partnership with the Portland community to prevent youth homelessness and provide homeless and at-risk young people with the resources and skills needed to lead healthy, productive lives. Learn more at newavenues.org.
Every year, our signature event brings nationally acclaimed comic talent to Portland, providing a unique and entertaining evening while generating important support for comprehensive programs for foster, at-risk and homeless youth. It's incredible to see – over 500 community supporters, business leaders, and philanthropists coming together to make a difference through sharing a night full of laughter.
Support from last year’s Comedy Show made it possible for New Avenues for Youth to:
• Help more than 1,000 local youth
• Serve 42,122 meals to homeless and at-risk youth at our Drop-In Day Center
• Provide 6,488 bed nights for youth in our Transitional Housing program
• Create 95 paid job opportunities for homeless and at-risk youth through three Social Purpose Enterprises owned and operated by New Avenues
• Celebrate a 92% success rate of youth exiting our Transitional Housing program into stable housing of their own
• Launch new prevention programming, PDX-Connect, for youth in foster care
